Rifle Review: Tikka's T1X MTR - Excellent Quality & Craftsmanship!

Since 2016, the Tikka T3X has become a household name among hunters and precision shooters and for good reason. It is an excellent entry level firearm that is reliable, extremely accurate and doesn't break the bank and it comes out-of-the-box ready to fire with little adjustment and a smooth action. The T1X has followed suit and has not disappointed giving us a rimfire rifle with excellent quality and craftsmanship.

With the T1X, Tikka aimed to give it's customers the best of both worlds with a unique barrel configuration that features a cross-over profile. Essentially, it gives the user all the pros of a heavier barrel, including increased stability and accuracy, all without noticeably increasing the overall weight.

The barrel itself is cold-hammer forged which again ensures accuracy and along with the cross-over configuration, the T1X performs incredibly well at both the range and while out in the field. Topping it all off, the barrel comes threaded 1/2x28 TPI and capped with a plastic protector.

With it's 20" barrel the T1X comes in at ~5.6 pounds which is thanks to its injection-molded polymer stock which weighs ~29 ounces and includes 35% fiberglass to increase rigidity. The grip on the stock is also tactile enough to give the user a solid grip in rainy or sweaty circumstances while also not being too abrasive on the skin.

The stock is also incredibly modular sports interchangeable pistol grips, making it possible to modify the angle of the grip and allowing for multiple shooting positions. You can go even as far as to replace it with many aftermarket T3X stocks due to the magazine housing being part of the action rather than the stock.

Now for my favorite feature of the T1X, it's trigger. It came measuring at 3.5 pounds and broke like glass. Now what really increasing the cool factor of the T1X is that you can adjust it down to a hairline trigger of roughly 1.3 pounds, however Tikka recommends going no lower than 2 pounds.

It is important to note that the T1X is essentially the rimfire brother of the T3X and as such they can share many of the aftermarket accessories such as stocks and triggers.
