Pistol Review: Volquartsen's NEW Mamba-X - The Ultimate In Rimfire Pistols!

When it comes to high performing rimfire firearms, without a doubt Volquartsen has come to be one of the biggest players in the market, if not the biggest. Volquartsen always looks to differentiate themselves with out-of-the-box designs which have resulted in the Mamba-X.

For shooters look for that extra edge, whether you're shooting competition or just having fun, the Mamba-X gives you just that.

In our modern day and age, more and more shooters, especially competition shooters, have been transitioning towards red dots and Volquartsen has recognized and acted on that trend. The Mamba-X comes outfitted with multiple hole mounting locations specifically meant to mount a red dot with the design ergonomics to support that style of shooting.

Volquartsen has done an excellent job of keeping the red dot mounted as low as possible which translates to faster sight acquisition. Being one of the foremost trailblazers in rimfire firearms, they did this by doing away with mounting plates and opted to have the red dot direct mount onto their LLV-4X 4.5" Competition Upper. For those worrying whether it will only accept a handful of red dots, fret not, it can mount:

  • Trijicon RMR

  • C-More Slide Ride

  • Vortex Viper, Venom & Razor

  • JP Enterprises JPoint

  • Burris Fast Fire

  • Leupold DeltaPoint

  • Shield Sights Mini Sight

  • Sig Sauer Romeo 1 Pro, Romeo 3 Max & Sig Sauer Romeo 3 XL

  • & More

The Mamba-X was designed with competition shooters in mind and as such it comes competition ready in a push-button takedown configuration. The pistol combines features from their Scorpion Target Pistol with the push-button takedown functionality of the Ruger MK IV frame. Not only that, but Volquartsen's Single-Port Compensator essentially brings a low-recoil round to zero-recoil. Any competition shooter or firearm enthusiast who enjoys shooting rapid fire is going to greatly appreciate that feature.

Another standard feature is the DLC-coated Volquartsen Competition Bolt and accurizing kit, which provides the shooter with a 2.25lb trigger pull. The features do not stop there. At the muzzle you have a 1/2 x 28 threaded 4.5″ stainless steel barrel. Moreover, the breech is laser-hardened and encased within a type III hard-anodized aluminum shroud.

The Mamba-X is available on a Ruger MK IV target frame or a Ruger MK IV 22/45 frame.
