Pistol Review: SIG Sauer's P320 AXG Pro - Full-Size & All-Metal

Ever since the release of the P320 and the militaries adoption of the M18/M17, the P320 platform has made it's way across the nation and established itself as a household name. Now SIG has recently came out with their AXG (Alloy XSeries Grip) Series which offers their fan base the opportunity to shoot the P320 in an all metal frame and slide.

Enter the AXG Pro, the first full size pistol in the all-metal AXG Series.

--

Reminiscent of their Legion pistols, the AXG Pro looks absolutely gorgeous right out-of-the-box with it's black anodized metal AXG Grip module and it's Pro-cut slide. It is safe to say that SIG did an excellent job in creating an all-metal P320 with the results being a seamless, feature-packed gun that shoots remarkably well.

The first thing you'll notice are the slide cuts made to both the side and top of the slide. Now what really sticks out and makes the AXG Pro look that much more unique is how the slide cuts extend all the way to the end of the slide exposing the end of the barrel and giving the gun a modern look. Now the porting are not just there for show, but also lighten the weight of the gun and help balance while shooting.

The features of the slide do not stop there. The entire slide is coated with SIG's Nitron coating, which is essentially a PVD finish, which enhances the gun's corrosion and scratch resistance. The Pro-cut slide also comes optic-ready and is direct mount compatible with SIG Electro-Optics ROMEO1Pro, ROMEO2, Delta Point Pro and RMR/SRO sights which means you won't have to go through the hassle of getting a plate when you want to mount your red dot. SIG also outfitted the AXG Pro with their X-RAY3 Day/Night Sights to really top everything off.

Now for the frame, we have Hogue G10 grips with a black anodized finish. One thing you'll notice when you take the AXG Pro out of the box is that it immediately fills your hand up and the Hogue grips really ensure you have a tactile grip on it. Guys with bigger hands would have an especially fun time shooting the AXG Pro. The grips are complimented with a detachable magwell which make for quick, easy and improved reloads.

Another key feature of the AXG Pro is it's XSeries flat trigger. You immediately notice the exceptionally short trigger travel and the clean break at around ~3.5-4 lbs. With the trigger travel already being so short and the trigger reset even shorter, you can essentially shoot this gun as fast as your finger lets you.

All in all, you have the modern features and modularity of the P320 platform combined with the performance and feel of a metal frame offers which makes for a great time at the range.
