The Les Baer Premier II Super-Tac is what happens when a classic 1911 gets dressed for serious work. Built by Les Baer Custom, the Super-Tac takes the already respected Premier II platform and adds practical upgrades meant for shooters who actually run their guns hard. Think of it as the Premier II’s more tactical sibling, same legendary accuracy, just with a few extra tricks up its sleeve.

At its core, the Super-Tac is a full-size Government-model 1911 chambered in .45 ACP. Like all Les Baer pistols, it starts with forged frames and slides that are hand-fit to incredibly tight tolerances. Baer pistols are famously snug when new, and that tight fit is exactly what helps them deliver such impressive accuracy. The pistol features a 5-inch National Match barrel, carefully fitted to the slide and bushing so everything locks up the same way every time the gun cycles.
That careful fitting isn’t just for bragging rights. Les Baer pistols are well known for their 3-inch accuracy at 50 yards, which is remarkable for a duty-sized handgun. In practical terms, it means the Super-Tac will almost always outshoot the person pulling the trigger, and that’s not a bad problem to have.
Where the Super-Tac separates itself from the standard Premier II is in its handling upgrades. The most noticeable feature is the aggressive Super-Tac slide serrations. These deep, angled cuts appear on both the front and rear of the slide, giving shooters a very positive grip when racking the slide. Whether your hands are sweaty, gloved, or just moving quickly on the range, these serrations make slide manipulation easier and more reliable. They also give the pistol a bold, unmistakable look.
Sights are another area where the Super-Tac leans toward practicality. Most versions come equipped with tritium night sights, which glow in low light and help keep the gun usable in defensive situations. During the day, they still provide a clean, easy-to-see sight picture that pairs perfectly with the pistol’s inherent accuracy.
The trigger is exactly what you’d expect from a high-end 1911. The single-action trigger is tuned to break cleanly, usually around four pounds, with very little creep and a short, crisp reset. It’s the kind of trigger that makes precise shooting feel almost effortless.
Grip and control are handled through front strap checkering and premium grips, giving the shooter a solid hold without feeling overly rough in the hand. Combined with the weight of the steel frame, the Super-Tac manages recoil well for a .45 ACP pistol, making follow-up shots smoother and faster.
In the end, the Les Baer Premier II Super-Tac hits a sweet spot. It keeps the classic look and craftsmanship of a traditional 1911 while adding the kind of features modern shooters appreciate. It’s accurate, durable, and just a little bit aggressive—exactly what a tactical 1911 should be.
