Florida's 2026 Hunting, Fishing, and Camping Sales Tax Holiday is in effect. From September 1 through December 31, 2026, qualifying purchases of firearms, ammunition, firearm accessories, archery equipment, fishing gear, and camping supplies are exempt from Florida sales tax. No coupons, no codes, no mail-in forms. The tax simply does not apply at the register.
Here is what qualifies.

Firearms and Firearm Accessories (No Price Cap)
Firearms and ammunition are eligible with no upper price limit. That includes pistols, rifles, and shotguns. The following firearm accessories also qualify with no price cap:
Ammunition
Barrels
Cases and range bags
Charging handles
Cleaning kits
Handguards
Holsters
Internal parts and components
Magazines and other ammunition feeding devices
Pistol grips
Shooting chronographs
Shooting mats, rests, and bipods
Sights and optics
Slides and cylinders
Slings
Stocks and braces
Suppressors and silencers
Triggers
That list is specific and worth reading carefully. If an accessory is not on it, it is not exempt. Apparel, footwear, and general hunting clothing are not included.
Archery Equipment (No Price Cap)
Bows (hand-drawn, handheld, hand-released), crossbows, and their accessories are exempt. Accessories include arrows, bolts, quarrels, quivers, releases, sights/optics, and wristguards.
Fishing Supplies (Price Thresholds Apply)
Bait and tackle: $10 or less individually, $20 or less if sold together
Tackle boxes and bags: $30 or less
Rods and reels: $75 or less individually, $150 or less if sold as a set
Camping Supplies (Price Thresholds Apply)
Camping lanterns and flashlights: $30 or less
Camping stoves, portable hammocks, collapsible chairs, sleeping bags: $50 or less
Tents: $200 or less
What Does Not Qualify
The exemption does not apply to rentals, repairs, or purchases made for commercial use. It also does not apply to purchases made inside a theme park, entertainment complex, public lodging establishment, or airport.
Items sold as bundled sets that include both exempt and non-exempt products are taxable on the full set price. For example, a scope packaged with a non-qualifying item like a hunting vest would be taxed on the entire package even though the scope alone would qualify.
Online and Remote Purchases
Orders placed with online retailers or marketplace providers during the tax holiday period qualify for the exemption as long as the order is accepted for immediate shipment during the holiday window. Delivery can occur after December 31 and the exemption still applies, provided the order was placed and confirmed before the deadline.
The Bottom Line
For Florida buyers, this is four full months of tax-free purchasing on firearms, optics, suppressors, ammunition, magazines, and a wide range of accessories. On higher-ticket items like premium optics, suppressed firearms, and precision rifles, the savings are substantial. The holiday runs through the end of the year, which means it covers hunting season, the holiday gift-buying window, and year-end purchases.
