Rifle Review: The Sauer 100 Pantera!
In this year's 2018 SHOT SHOW, Sauer has unveiled the Sauer 100 Pantera rifle. The Pantera is a highly ergonomic bolt-action rifle optimized for long range shooting and hunting. Made by one of Germany's oldest gunmakers, the Pantera is a highly efficient and compact platform for long-range shooting.
SHOOTING
After careful examination of the Pantera we can safely say that it is very versatile and adaptable rifle. We recommend it for a variety of shooting activity including, target shooting at medium and long ranges as well as hunting.
The Pantera fits with a variety of scopes. We recommend the Zeiss V4, Zeiss V6, Swarovski Z3, and Swarovski Z5 riflescopes. In regard to magnification, it all depends on application of the firearm.
For scope mounts we recommend Recknagel Tac Era Mounts.
This rifle comes in an assortment of calibers to accommodate most shooting activities including: 6.5 PRC, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win, .300 Win. Mag., .30-06 Spring., and .223 Rem.
THE DESIGN
The Pantera utilizes the new Sauer 100 action that was recently launched this year. So far it has performed outstandingly with several different models including the Classic, Classic XT, Fieldshoot, Cherokee, Atacama, and Ceratech.
The Pantera's adjustable cheek piece along with the fully adjustable recoil pad, makes it a good fit for any shooter. The sculpted palm swell of the pistol grip provides additional provides additional grip and a natural shooting position for first round hits at the longest of ranges.
Another attractive feature is the 'Black Recon' Cerakote finish to the barrel and action. This top of the line finish provides an ultra-rugged layer of protection that protects the underlying laminate wood stock and adds a tactile grip.
The trigger is spot-on! It is adjustable from 2.2 lbs to 4.4 lbs and out-of-the-box it comes with no take-up whatsoever and it breaks very crisply.
All in all, the Pantera features a highly ergonomic stock, a heavy fluted barrel, adjustable comb and sculpted pistol grip designed for accurate long-range shooting.
