Recently introduced in March at the IWA & Outdoor Classics in Germany, the 92X Performance takes the iconic 92 Beretta platform to new heights by incorporating competition-ready features into a handgun that has proved its worth on battlefields and with police forces all over the world.
Built with speed and accuracy in mind, Beretta's new competition pistol is uncompromising and aims for top performance, offering the world of competitive dynamic shooting, one of the most reliable and world-renowned operating systems, together with a steel frame, a heavier Brigadier slide and the new Extreme-S trigger mechanism.
The 92X is built from the ground up with vital competition features that every competition shooter scours for when looking for the perfect pistol.
The defining feature that sets the 92X aside is the Extreme-S trigger. This new trigger mechanism keeps the firing pin block active ensuring the safety of the pistol in case it falls but decreases trigger reset by up to 40%. Erik Stern, a rep from Beretta, says it has, "one of the shortest resets on a DA/SA on the market, period”.
With the Extreme-S the 92X Performance has an out-of-the-box trigger weight of 3.3 lbs in SA and 6.5 lbs in DA. The saw-toothed cocking serrations on the front and rear of the Brigadier slide ensure maximum grip during slide movement, in all conditions, while the steel guide rod ensures maximum operational accuracy. The trigger itself has been checkered for maximum grip and was redesigned to achieve a vertical profile in single action.
To top it all off, the 92X utilizes a skeletonized hammer with a standard competition hammer spring to enable even faster cycle time.
The 92X uses a Vertec/M9A3 style steel frame with reduced grip size and the Brigadier slide, to take the weight of the 92X to 2.9 lbs, a key weight which increases the pistol's stability and reduces muzzle rise when shooting.
The front sight is equipped with a red fiber optic insert to ensure quick and accurate aim realignment, it also has a rear sight, without colored references, which can be adjusted laterally and vertically to the micrometre.
The oversized magazine and grip checkering, which can also be found on the front of the frame, improve the pistol's handling giving you a tactile grip in almost every situation.
The raised frame profile near the magazine release enables the shooter's hand to sit as high as possible on the grip, which improves controllability and recoil mitigation for faster shooting.
The “Match” disassembly lever provides a precise reference point for the second hand while shooting. The slide stop profile is lowered so as not to cause interference at slide lock with shooters who choose to ride the safety during shooting.
The magazine release is oversized, reversible, and an adjustable version is available through Beretta's pro-shop. The safety on the frame is ambidextrous and is available in three different size profiles, making it adaptable to various hand types and different competition disciplines.
The 92X is outfitted with an attractive duo tone look, obtained using a Nistan finish applies to the frame surface and slide with the contrast provided by the black burnished barrel.
The pistol comes with two 15-round magazines with rubber magazine bumpers to give the dominant hand extra grip and to protect the magazine from damage during quick magazine changes.
